"Widening participation, sustained engagement and achievement for Black & Dual Heritage young people through positive activities and opportunities"
Yes You Can Club targets young people from African, Caribbean and dual heritage backgrounds to engage in positive activities within the areas of performing arts, sports, healthy living, enterprise and future goals. The club seeks to empower these young people by helping them to build confidence, raise their aspirations and achievements and develop a positive environment in which they can platform new ideas and initiatives.
The project is run by a youth steering group supported by youth workers.  They seek to develop their own programming and learn leadership and management skills.  Since its beginning in August 2007, the club has grown from strength to strength and been involved in initiatives that have given young people a voice to share their opinions about youth initiatives in the city and engage with decision makers.
Yes You Can Club is not stand alone and seeks to develop partnerships with other youth initiatives in the city and develop partnerships with youth agencies and community groups to ensure that they are gaining knowledge about services available to them and where to seek advice.
It is important for members to have fun and gain new experiences, the club seeks to do this by providing a wide range of activities. which include the participating in youth-led projects.
An important aspect of the club is to reward youth achievement and so celebration events and presentation evenings are held and young people are supported to be accredited for the work they do.
Yes You Can club runs weekly on Wednesday evenings from 5.00 pm - 7.00 pm at the African Caribbean Centre (and other venues according to the activity taking place).  You can get involved by joining the club as a member or as part of the youth steering committee.
