Junior Yes You Can Club & Mentoring Project

Junior Yes You Can Club is a mentoring and befriending project that seeks to support young people aged 10 – 13 years to achieve positive outcomes through being mentored by older young people.   This 3 year project, funded by Young Peoples Fund 2,  will seek to train 16 – 19 year olds as mentors and match them with 10 – 13 year olds to develop mutually beneficial relationships that will help them to identify and look at overcoming potential barriers to their future success.  Following the development of the mentoring project the mentors and mentees supported by dedicated staff will look at setting up and programming for the Junior Yes You Can Club that will seek to support these young people with their academic, career and personal goals.

Junior Yes You Can is a spin off, of the Yes You Can club which has existed since August 2007 and targets young people aged 13 – 19 years.  This cultural, social and personal development project primarily for Black and Dual Heritage young people was set up with young people as the central part of its planning, and works to help them achieve their goals, gain new experiences and contribute positively to their community.  A youth committee work together to plan and develop their own programme of positive activities and Junior Yes You Can is the culmination of one of this groups ideas.
